Eu Citizen spouse of British

Post by nisha06 » Fri Jun 24, 2016 6:38 pm

Hello,
I'm a British Passport holder, I'm a self employed in London.
My wife is holding Italian Passport. We're married since July 2012 (4 years).
Can she apply for UK Citizen, she need to pass any exam?
There's any change in the application after a Brexit?

Thank you.

Your employment is immaterial. Has your wife been exercising her Treaty rights in the UK for 5 years through employment, or has she held Comprehensive Sickness Insurance (CSI) or an EHIC card throughout any period of unemployment? She will first have to qualify for Permanent Residence (PR) and have confirmation of this. If she can meet these conditions throughout the 5 year qualifying period, as she is married to a British citizen she would be able to apply for BC.
She will need B1 level English from an approved test/test provider and a pass in the Life in the UK test.
