Dependent citizenship

Post by Moon_Khan » Sun Jun 26, 2016 6:43 pm

Hi All,

Please anyone can reply.
I got my British citizenship on the basis of tier 1 general migrant route in December 2015.
My wife is still on tier 1 dependent visa valid till to June 2017
She came to Uk in March 2013 as tier 1 general dependent,
When she will be eligible for British citizenship.

Regards

Khan

Immediately after being granted ILR assuming she meets all the standard conditions.

Thanks casa.

She will be eligible for ilr in March 2018,
What do you mean by standard requirements?
I was reading FAQ and it say once one of the applicant granted British citizenship then after that spouse become eligible for naturalisation if 3 years residency requirements is completed.
Thanks

Yes, but your wife needs ILR first. By standard conditions I mean limit of absence, English language @ B1 level and the Life in the UK test, good character etc.

Thanks casa

Just last question.
You mean she is eligible for ilr now.
Not to wait for till to March 2018 to complete 5 years as tier 1 dependent?

You wife needs to acquire ILR under the rules for Tier 1 Dependent, when she has met the requirements for that. If she finishes 5 years in March 2018, she can only apply for ILR then.

After she acquires ILR, she would be eligible to apply for naturalisation immediately.
