Move to Canada but continue to work in UK North Sea Oil

Post by Schadenfreude » Mon Jun 27, 2016 2:25 am

Hi,

We've been considering attempting to move to Canada for a few years now and wondered what my options / chances would be like.
Slightly different request from normal as I'm NOT looking for a job in Canada:-
I'm a British born resident of the UK and work on the UK sector North Sea oil and gas "rigs".
Would I be able to emigrate to Canada but continue to work in my current (good) position in the North Sea?
I work 3 weeks away / 3 weeks home. Sometimes 2 weeks away 4 weeks home so commuting is less of an issue than you'd first think - though to keep travel sensible would likely look to reside in the east of Canada, probably no further west than Toronto.

Personal circumstances: I married with no children in my mid-forties - my wife is an ex-civil servant recently laid off in the current UK round of austerity cuts.

AFAIK I don't think my company would have any issues with this.

Any advice welcome.
