French Married to UK citizen

Hello,

I have spent a few hours looking at the various info available and I am still lost!

I am French and I have been married to a British citizen for 7 years (living both in the UK). We have 2 children.

I have been in the uk since 2003, with in work and off work.

I would like to apply for a 5 year residency certificate with the view of getting the citizenship a year later.

I was looking at applying as a EAA qualifying person and provide evidence for the last 5 years only - However I have a period of 4 months in 2011 where I was just looking after my kids and not looking for work or working. Is that going to be an issue?

Also I was wondering whether there would be another route since I am married to a British citizen and have a family in the UK? I can't find any information about that.

Any help will be appreciated!

EU route migration is the appropriate one for you.

If you weren't doing anything in particular (apart from juggling home, family, spouse, dog & etc) then you need to fall into the self-sufficient category.
To do that you need to have had CSI (health insurance) in place.

Did you have CSI in 2011?

The EU route is what you are doing, residing in UK as a qualified person and applying for a RC then a DCPR.

Yes, private, comprehensive health insurance will cover the need to show CSI as a self-sufficient person.

No, hubby is British so cannot sponsor you;
he is not considered as an EEEA national in this context (that's UK law - even before Brexit)

You are EEA so have to apply in your own right as the main applicant.
You don't need a sponsor.

Assemble your timeline & associated evidence (which needs to be rock-solid);
figure out which categories of qualified person you have been (eg worker, self-sufficient etc);
fill out the 'monster' form;
see how it shapes up.

Yes, that's it.

The only benefit (in immigration terms) of a British spouse is there is no need to hold settled (PR) status for a further year before shooting for the privilege of citizenship.
