Dis-abled Child

Post by wattsy007 » Thu Jul 07, 2016 1:15 pm

We currently live in Thailand but are going to apply for a UK settlement visa early next year for my thai wife. We are currently visiting the UK where my 3 year old son has just been diagnosed with learning difficulties and partial autism. He was born in Thailand but has dual nationality and holds a uk passport. The paediatrician told us he would be registered as dis-abled if in the UK. Will his dis-ability increase the chance of us getting the UK settlement visa or cause more problems as he would need access to the NHS for special assistance. We tick all the requirements to apply for the settlement visa but I cant find any information about how or if we should state are childs problems in the application.

thanks for any advice

I'm pretty sure the Home Office would not refuse your wife a visa because of a disability, especially one that she doesn't have herself.

That is called discrimination and it's not really legal in the UK.
