Do I need to inform HO about this?

Post by triamphuntdd » Thu Jul 07, 2016 5:05 pm

My wife applied for naturalisation in February. She received her approval on 20th of May which was dated 10th of May. She attended the ceremony and got her certificate of naturalisation dated 8th of June. I also applied for my naturalisation on 12th of May (just a couple of days after her case was approved) however I obviously didn’t provide the date my partner was granted citizenship and also didn’t provide her certificate reference number because at the time of application we hadn’t received the approval and she became British citizen after attending ceremony a couple of weeks after I sent my application anyway. I called Home Office citizenship helpline and they told me that I don’t need to do anything because at the time of application I wasn’t aware that she has got her case approved though it was approved a couple of days before I sent my application through NCS. Is this the correct approach ? or is this a change in circumstances that they must be told about ? I am only asking because HO helpline only said it on phone and didn’t provide me anything in writing. I know they'd obviously already know about my wife's approval but I thought its better to take advice from you guys.
Thanks in advance.

Unless your application was reliant on your wife having already being granted BC there's no problem. with nothing to declare.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
