Advice needed: Tier 2 General Umbrella company contract

Hi all,

I recently finished my contract and while looking for a new contract all the recruitment agents are not processing my CV as I am on a Tier 2 General visa.

I was wondering if anyone else (on Tier 2 general visa) is also facing the same problem.

Could you help me with these queries please?
-Does this mean anyone on Tier 2 General visa can go for a direct contract only?
-What are the ways to get a direct contract?

Are you contracting?

It is illegal and not permitted to do contract work or to work through an umbrella company on Tier 2 General.
And if you've paid hard cash for the privilege then you've been scammed too.

All in all it can only lead to a world of immigration-related pain.

1. No, the company has to be your employer with no intermediaries.

If you've been contracting on T2G you are up shit creek with Apple Maps.

There has been a considerable amount of effort educating the employment agencies about the use of Tier 2 migrants. The threat of a £20k fine under the current preventing illegal employment rules has sharpened their approach.

Previously employment agencies were rarely tackled on this issue, now they are seen as fair game and an easy target for the issue of civil penalties. There is also a dog eat dog approach and rival employment agencies happily infom on those that they know to be using tier 2 contractors. Easy pickings for UKVI.
