Settlement on Tier 2 General Visa

Post by lafs26 » Fri Jul 08, 2016 10:07 pm

Hi,

I was going through all pre-requisiste to apply for ILR in UK. Was bit confused and came to know about this forum which is very helpful.
I wanted to understand, if I enter in UK on Tier 2 General visa through Company A and do contracting for say 1 year then after that I switched my sponsor to Company B again on Tier 2 General Visa and continued with Company B for next 4 years. Then
a) Will I be eligible to apply for ILR after completion of these above 5 years ?
b) Or Do I have to stick with one sponsor for continuous 5 years to be eligible to apply for ILR ?

It is illegal to do contracting work on Tier 2 General, so that's probably not a good place to start your immigration journey in the UK.

--> Thanks for reply but that's just a scenario. And I do understand contracting on Tier 2 General Visa is illegal. My question is " If I work for first sponsor for 1 year then switched to other sponsor for 4 years then what will be the answers to above questions "

There is no restriction on switching from one sponsor to another provided all other conditions are met. For ILR, if you satisfy all other conditions, then it is perfectly OK to have worked for more than one sponsor over the course of the 5 years qualifying period on Tier 2.
