Italian Citizenship by Descent

Me - Born in Belgium, UK national (currently living in the UK)
Father - Brazilian born, Italian national (currently living in the UK)

Hi there, apologise if this has already been discussed in another thread.
I wanted to apply for Italian dual citizenship from the UK and was wondering in terms
of the birth certificate, would the consulate accept a copy of the translated birth certificate and/or original.

Also, do I have to provide a copy and/or original of my father’s Italian passport?

I really appreciate any advice from those who have been through similar applications.

Hi,

We successfully applied for my son two years ago. We translated his birth certificate and they accepted it. Don't forget you have to have an original certificate (or certified copy) and have it legalised - you will have to have yours legalised in Belgium. You have to be prepared to leave it with them. They will not return it to you.

You have to show them your passport and your fathers passport. They will copy them and return them (unlike the certificates).

Also be aware that London charge 300 euros for the appointment. If you don't have all the documentation and have to have another appointment then they will charge you twice.
