Expat impact on ILR

Post by marko_123 » Tue Jul 19, 2016 1:21 pm

Dear team.

I have recently sent an FLR (M) application, for my wifes visa extension which expired in July 16 (from first entry clearance). I believe the application usually takes a couple of months, which is no major issue.

However, I have a few concerns relating to my work status and whether this would impact the FLR (M) consideration or ILR.

Whilst im (British from birth) currently settled in the UK with my wife and two british children, Im also employed full time. I have recieved a job offer from an employer based in dubai. If all goes well I will leave the UK temporarily to work for my new employer in Dubai in 4-5 months.

I just wanted to check, what impact this would have on my wifes future ILR application (in 2 years time) if she was to come and live with me in Dubai?

Many thanks

How long do you expect to be away for?

The guidance relating to time spent outside the UK hasn't been updated yet.

Applying for an entry clearance may reset her qualifying period for ILR in this category.
