Hi Lee,

Thank you for sharing the letters, will surely come handy! :)

Can you please be so kind and answer this question of mine?

I am to apply ILR under Tier 2 (General) sponsorship visa. For the past 5 years I have taken my entitled paid annual leaves (about 160 days) plus four work related trips (48 days). However the latter absences will put me above the 180 days total allowance.
Do you think my application will be approved if I have letter from my employer stating the leaves were work related?

Again many thanks for your help.

Read the application clearly....

180 days allowance is for every 12 months.... not for the entire 5 years..... so legally you are allowed 180 X 5... days out UK

Thank you Lee for the quick reply. I actually did read in gov.uk documents that "No more than 180 whole days absence are allowed in any of the 5, 4, 3 or 2 consecutive 12 month periods, depending on the category, preceding the date of the application for indefinite leave to remain (ILR)" and thought 5 x 180 days might be allowed, but you know you'd better not make your own interpretations and assumptions in these cases, so thanks for letting know! That's a calming new! :)

Yes... You have to get a letter from your previous employer.., if you can't manage providing a justification with evidence would help..,,

No - as long as you didn't leave the country... You don't have to mention....
