Do I need my marriage certificate translated?

Post by cindy88 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 11:34 am

Hello everyone,

I'm applying for PR status, my hubby and I are Italian and since we got married in Italy our marriage certificate is, of course, in Italian.

My question is, is there a list / restriction of the type of documents that MUST be translated into English?
Does it matter the origin of the document (EU / non-EU)?

Many thanks to all the kind souls who take the time to answer these questions. :D

Kind regards
Cinzia

And if this is the case (all the docs which are not in English must have a certified translation) do anyone know about cheap reliable online translator services? There are so many out there....

Thanks again
C.

See PR guidance:
If you wish to send any documents that are not in English or Welsh, you must get the document translated by a qualified professional translator.

Ask the translator or translation company to confirm in writing on the translation:
  • that it’s a ‘true and accurate translation of the original document’;
    the date of the translation;
    the full name and contact details of the translator or a representative of the translation company;
