Does my father-in-law qualify as a dependent?

Post by FMBKR » Tue Jul 26, 2016 5:22 pm

Hello all,

Hope you guys can help us out. I've done a ton of reading, but the whole process of applying for my father-in-law is quite new to me (only have one after all) :)

So, my wife and I (I'm German), live in the UK. My father-in-law lives alone in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We send him money every month for his expenses.

His health has been deteriorating quite a bit in recent months. Diabetes, bad eye sight (AMD), problem with the knee, and more.

We want to look after him, and bring him here to live with us. I got proof of exercising my rights as an EEA national (I work here Full-Time), we have a marriage certificate to proof we're related, a TB test and medical notes and records to confirm his declining health.

My questions:

Are we missing anything?
Does my father-in-law qualify as a dependent?
OR: If you've had experience with a similar situation, What could go wrong in our application?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies! :)

Joseph

If you can prove support of essential daily needs you have a case.

See guidance on family members/dependents here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... s_v3_0.pdf

Apply for Family Permit.

HO can and do play hard ball, it can go wrong - just as in this recent case:
