Timeline for First Overseas passport?

Hello all
I have applied for my son's (born and living in India) British passport in April this year. I chose to apply from here in UK rather than from India.

The application seems to be making good progress. On 2nd June, I was told all the checks in the UK have been completed and the file is now going to be forwarded to the High Command in India.

On 19th Jul, I was contacted by the New Delhi high command asking for further documentation (wife's photographs to be precise, during pregnancy and after delivery at hospital). I had submitted it the same day (via email) but since then, I have been chasing them up to confirm if they have in fact received the requested documents to no luck.

Based on the status mentioned, could any previous applicants give any indication as to how quickly can I expect the passport application to be complete henceforth? I know an interview will be called but dont know when to expect that.

My wife's visa expires in mid Sep, so she has to be here before then. Hopefully, the passport is sorted before then.
Any timeline related information for a first overseas passport application will really help.
