Ancestral to Family permit

Post by amunky » Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:05 pm

I have been on my male partners(same sex) ancestral visa for 3 years and 2 months- we were suppose to apply for an extension in Sept next year- however I met a girl 3 years ago at work and fell in love- our lives are so similar and she moved in a year and a half ago and we have been seeing each other since then- we still work together- we holiday together and life is great. She is on a poruguese passport and has been living in the UK for 8 YRS. I am on a SA passport. My male parner and I have drifted apart totally.
We want to get married in SA early next year- what will be the implications of being on an same sex ancestral visa and now marrying someone else- I was married before and have 3 kids in the UK(complicated story I am)
Will I be able to apply for a family permit in the UK or will I have to get it in SA- is it a big drama
Please help- We are still all 3 living together but I wish to sort this mess out and live happily ever after

Well, for a start you have screwed things up quite a lot by remaining in the UK on the ancesry dependent visa when the previous relationship has been over for a year. In the current climate, when you apply for the spousal visa this WILL be noticed, and you may well be refused for having lived in the UK illegally for one year.
