Aplication for Permanent Residence

Post by Liliana Lichici » Sun Jul 31, 2016 11:03 am

Section 5.3 "Have you had any absences from the UK since you entered?... If yes, please give dedails ..."
I'm in the UK since 2008 and I don't retain the exact dates when I was on holidays . What can I do?
Thank you.

Give approximate dates: month/year.

Check your records and emails of past travel bookings, cc statements, bank statements, employer vacation requests & etc.

Request SAR from UKVI too - some trips may be recorded there if 'big brother' was watching you.

I could be wrong but holidays shouldn't count as absence. Absence is when you leave the country with the intention of staying out for some time.

Well, if holidays don't count as absences then maybe the HO should have been more clearer in their meaning of absences? - and define what constitutes as absences for this case.

Typically of the HO guidance notes - which are usually very unclear what they mean and render applicants unsure - so unsure that they may read it once, re read it again and then start to self doubt !

I have listed all possible absences/holidays so there is no wriggle room anyway- what they are looking for I would assume is lengthy absences that break the continuity of qualifying time.

List all absences for whatever purpose.
The caseworker will assess the application based on the regulations.

It doesn't matter if absences are continuous or multiple trips - list them all. Its all about the total time spent abroad.
