Unmarried Partner Visa Help

Post by meeeepo » Tue Aug 02, 2016 1:03 am

Hi there,
I have been trailing these forums for hours trying to find an answer, but couldn't so the only way to get the answers, I assumed, was to make my own post.

Me and my partner have been together 4 years in September, I am a British citizen living in the UK and he is a US citizen living there. We met whilst I was out there for four years going to university.

Obviously, having started dating at 18 throughout university, we have never paid bills or lived together, nor had a joint bank account. However, I know one of the requirements is to have lived together for 2 years, and considering we did not necessarily live together as roommates this isn't true.

Is there ANY option for us to get him an unmarried partner visa? Or in that case, any other kind of visa that isn't a marriage visa, as we are still only in our early 20s, so marriage seems way too early for us!

Any help or advice is so helpful as we are getting desperate at this point, and really worried that it's going to take years for him to be able to make it over here.

No chance.

You have to have cohabited for a period of two years or more as man and wife I'm afraid and UKVI operate zero leeway in these visas.

Either way do you meet the finiancial requirements?
