Voluntary return, please advice a little help

Hi everyone
My visa was refused 6 months before and i used my right of appeal as appeal is on the way but i want to withdra as i have now changed my mind to return home, i have contacted home office for my passport return but they said i have to come for some interview and get some documents to show at airport to get my passport. Please advice is there any chance of being detained when i go for interview? Would really appreciate your reply.
