referee problem - urgent help required

Post by tangocharlieroger » Wed Aug 10, 2016 11:10 am

Hi!

In few days i have my appointment to submit
my british citizenship application (along with passport).
In AN form it is asking for 2 refrees.

Now 2 questions:

1). for 1 referee they are asking someone who is some kind of official.
Through a friend, i have known one local concillor for more than 3 years.
He is happy to give me reference, but on form
"How you know the applicant", he wrote "Friend".
Just wanted to ask if "Friend" is acceptable?
or shall i ask him again (which i am avoiding right now)
to write something like "Known him through mutual acquintance" ?

2). In second referee, is my immediate boss (or supervisor) acceptable as referee?

Please guide me on both questions.
Thanks

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

"Friend" is perfectly fine - if you put a policeman, judge etc as a referee it reflects better on your good character if you know them as friends rather than because they dealt with you through work :-)
