SAR to find date PR status started

Post by Agno81 » Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:47 pm

Hi all,
I asked the qn in the timeline post but, unsurprisingly, it was not answered. Hope i am not abusing of my posting rights posting it again in a more appropriate place :)
I also tried to read several pages of posts, but I could not find any answer to my specific question

Now, piercing together what google and old posts seem to suggest, I understand that finding out what date the case worker put in the system as the one when PR status was achieved can be done mailing a SAR form to UKVI, which I believe can be done using the forms below

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... mmigration

Qn 1 - is this something that can be done using the 'fast track' form/procedure?

Qn 2 - Since the magic 'give me the start date on your system' box does not exist, is it correct that i should tick 'IT Records' under Section 2, requesting all electronic files related to my caseworker?

Qn 3 - Do I need to send them (again, after they kept it for 4 months) my ID card? :? Guess so, given the big bolded text, but worth checking. Since it says 'copies only required', would any kind of scan&print copy do it, or they need a certified copy?

Qn 4 - on the notes, under A, they say adding a passport photo might also be helpful... I assume given the kind of question i am asking, this is irrelevant, correct?

Thanks!

1. Yes you can do it under fast track, at least one member here has successfully done so. It's much quicker (obviously) and you don't have to pay the £10 fee.

2. Not sure if you'll be able to get EVERYTHING if you use fast track. The member I spoke about above actually submitted a normal request, while the fast track service was in beta. He wrote in the comments box that all he wanted was the date his PR status was acquired. They sent a letter back saying they had processed his request under the fast track pilot; it had the date of his PR only and his £10 cheque was also returned. On the other hand, I ticked the box asking for everything and sure enough they cashed my postal order and sent me a huge file back and it took much longer.

3. No need for copies to certified. I just made a photocopy of my passport with my crappy printer and they accepted that no problem.

4. I'm pretty sure I didn't send a passport photo!

You did the right thing. And have been rewarded with a cogent and helpful response.

It's a mystery why members insist on abusing the 'timeline' threads by posting questions there;
it simply turns the thread into a jumbled and confused mess of nonsense.

Its like trying to debate the meaning of life on the 'up' escalator of Piccadilly underground in rush hour with someone who is on the 'down' escalator.

I read somewhere that from July 2016 all SAR's need to be submitted with a copy of ID certified by a solicitor!! Certification by a solicitor are in the range of £50-100 and will surely discourage people from applying for a SAR.

Post Office can certify most documents for £8, I've had them certify a copy of my naturalisation certificate.

Hello, I was wondering how quick is the fast track request? how many days roughly? Many thanks
