If Job extends with same employer beyond the dates of CoS

I have recently secured a job in UK under Tier 2 General category. My Certificate of Sponsorship is for One year, while the Visa Category is for General Migrant upto 3 years including my dependants. I have a confusion here and a few questions for fellow members to help me in this regard.

1. In case my job extends with the same employer for more than one year, would I have to make a new application for a new visa under Tier 2 for myself and my dependents. In such a case whether only a new CoS would be required or a new CoS with a new visa too.

2. Would I have to leave UK and come back for reapplying if such is the case

The length of stay you get on your BRP will be in-line with what your employer has stated in the COS.

In your case, if the employer stated that you are required for only one year, you and your dependants will only get a VISA for 1 year.

If your employer extends your job in the same position, once your 1 year VISA expires, they have to issue you with another COS (again detailing how long you are needed for) and you have to apply for Tier-2 G extension. The same will apply for your dependants. All this needs to be done before your 1 year VISA expiry date.

2. Would I have to leave UK and come back for reapplying if such is the case
You can stay in the UK and get your Tier-2 Visa extended. (In-country application)
