Can limited leave to remain be self employed in the UK?

Hi,

I'm new to this site, so I apologise if my question is in the wrong section.

I've recently been granted a discretionary leave to remain for 2 and half years. In the letter attached to the biometric residence permit, it is written that I am entitled to work by seeking a job, however I wanted to know whether I am legally eligible for self employment in the UK. The type of self employment I'm looking into is not about opening a business e.g. ,shop, store, restaurant etc. I want to develop mobile apps and earn money through them. I searched a lot, but couldn't find the answer.

Am I allowed to be self employed with this type of residency?

I would appreciate your answers.
