HMRC fine and its affect on naturalisation

Post by devenpunjabi999 » Tue Aug 23, 2016 3:07 pm

I too am in a similar boat. Any suggestions/advice or people with a similar issue

I have a HMRC penalty for late filing of 2013/14 Self Assessment. The penalty plus interest was approx. £1000.This was self declared i.e. at no point HMRC issued a notice for this. It was a clerical error on my behalf

I must add that I have since applied for BC and not declared this following the advise on the forum of the link is above. This is not a civil penalty under immigration act nor it resulted to a CCJ. Also this is not a criminal offence. Hoping I can use this in my defense but I may be wrong

I must also add at no point I used this income (for which a self assessment was needed) for any previous HO applications. So no case of deception that's for certain
