My child

Post by awinash2716 » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:27 pm

Situation:- I am British citizen, my wife still has dependent visa but she is in India. My child got birth on 23rd April 2016 in India, I got naturalized on 17th may 2016 as British.
Questions:
1. which visa my son will apply for, from India?
2. what are the documents required for applying his visa.

Please reply.

Thanks.

Same visa status as your wife until she gets ILR. Child will also require ILR (eligible to apply same time as the mother) and can be registered as a British citizen when the mother gets ILR.

You will now have to meet a salary requirement of £22,400.

Can the mods please move this thread to the Family migration forum?

Dependent visa the same as his mother, as secret.simon has already advised.

A foreign child (born abroad) does not suddenly become British just because one parent has been naturalised.

Any children born to you in the future (whose date of birth is on or after the date of your naturalisation certificate) will be British citizens wherever in the world they are born.

Had your child been born in the UK after you got ILR, it would have been a British citizen by birth.

But as the child was born abroad & before you got British citizenship, its UK status will be the same as that of the less-privileged parent. IHS and any future fee increases will need to be paid. The child will need ILR before registration.
