switch from tier 2 dependent to general?

Post by calavera » Sun Aug 21, 2016 11:51 pm

Hi,

I am currently working in UK under Tier 2 ICT dependant visa.
My current employer will provide CoS and then i will switch to Tier 2 General visa for the same position in the same company that i am currently working.
Is this possible or do i need to resign first?
what is the typical process of switching from ICT dependent to Tier 2 General

Thanks!

1. Once you get a CoS, you need to apply for T2 (G) visa from your home country. You cannot apply from UK.

2. Unless your job is in the shortage occupation list, our employer will have to conduct RLMT before he can assign you a CoS.

3. In your case, your application will be subject to scrutiny by UKVI since there can be an element of pre-selection since you are already working for the same company. Please do some reading on this forum, there are many cases where the visa application was rejected due to RLMT not being conducted properly.

Btw, what is the role you are working on? Experienced folks here can confirm how easy/difficult it can be to find such a role in UK.
