PR as self-sufficient doubt

Post by SunFlower0517 » Fri Aug 26, 2016 10:05 am

Applying for PR as self-sufficient. I have a doubt and this is it: I am applying as self-sufficient as my partner has supported me financially for the 5 qualifying years. Do I have to include proof of his British nationality? I am asking because I see it's mentioned that otherwise me and my family members would all need CSI, but he doesn't need that being English. I also think if I don't include the proof, they could think he is a non-EU citizen etc.

I don't want to send his original passport, so I am thinking of obtaining a duplicate of his birth certificate and send that. He changed surname as he was adopted by his mum's partner and so I would have to include the adoption certificate as well I imagine.

Am I right in being extra cautious and include them as well?

Your British partner can't be your sponsor as you are not here under the UK Immigration Rules.

In order to qualify for PR as self-sufficient you would need CSI to cover the 5 year period.

Who are your family members?

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

As long as the person "paying for your upkeep" (not calling him sponsor as this has a different meaning in an immigration context) isn't a non-EEA national also wanting to apply, I don't think it matters and I don't think his passport needs to be included. CSI cover should only be needed for those applying for RC or PR document.

Yes, EHIC for the whole 5 years. I'm here by myself, living with partner. I just got confused, sorry.
