Fiance Visa - When to Apply

Post by B1C1 » Tue Aug 30, 2016 2:36 pm

Hi,

I am looking to apply for the fiance visa. We are getting married in UK in mid March 2017 and I am looking to arrive in UK on 1st February so there is enough time to give notice, which I think is 5 weeks (have to be in country for 1 week and then notice period is 4 weeks). I see for the marriage visitor visa on gov.uk website it says "The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel" is this also the case for Fiance visa or can you apply whenever?

Thank you for your help

The same. No earlier than 3 months before the intended date of travel.

The ECO will also want to see evidence of wedding planning even though you won't be able to give notice at the Registry Office before you arrive in the UK. Quotes for venue, catering, printing of wedding stationery etc as examples.

Thanks for the super quick response.

I guess since the visa is valid for 6 months and we are getting married in March we could put the date of intended travel as 1st January 2017 and not travel until February and then we can apply from 1st October 2016.

You can ask for the start date to be deferred for up to 3 months.
