visa gap How to prove SAR file to officer ?

Hello all,
Could you please advice me.I've been in the uk since 07 feb 98 through a combination of student (7yrs) and wp(3yrs).I am applying to ILR soon but still confused because of gap.Below is the information from SAR file.My questions are
1.Should i apply by post or apply by person?
2.Which date should be fine for apply by person?
2.Do I need to take SAR file and with me?

    In general, all complicated applications should be submitted by post. As advised on making an application, always keep proof of posting.

    To get a clearer picture, can you include the dates on which you were present or not present in the UK as well?
