Days Out of UK in last 5 years

Post by RRSB2012 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 8:04 am

Hi Everyone, Good Morning.

I would request your guidance on absences from UK for citizenship and would be grateful for your assistance.

Question 1
I am planning to apply for my British Citizenship in April 2017.
In past five years I had quite a bit of travel (Almost all business travel). My travel this year (April 2016-April 2017)is between 60-70 days.

As per the guidance documents and this forum, absences from UK in last 5 years should not be more than 450 days, however absences of up to 480 days are 'normally disregarded'.

As per my current travel plans, by the time of application in April 2017, I will end up with absences of 469 / 470 days. I really wanted to visit my parents for a few days in December, If I do that say for a week, my absences will be 477 days out of UK.

My Question is: Will it make a difference if absences are 470 days or 477 days. Will it cause delays or any problems if the absences are near 480 day. Or is it that even in the discretion band 'less is better'

Question 2
My another question is: After I have applied for my Citizenship (which I plan to do via NCS), would I be allowed to Travel. If Yes, would there be any restrictions on how much can I travel.

I would really appreciate your guidance on these question please.

Thanks a lot.

1) Its discretionary and so depends on caseworker and any internal HO guidelines that we (without someone 'on the inside') are not privy to.

2) Yes.
No.
