FORM UKF -Applying WITHOUT Fathers passport for british citi

Post by MissFine » Sat Sep 10, 2016 12:17 pm

Hi All.

I am gathering all the documents to apply for my Registration as a British Citizenship
However when I read the documents it says that I need to send the following items

- Your passport (which I really do not want to send half way around the world)
- Your full birth certificate
- Your fathers full birth certificate (which I have) and either

- His certificate of naturalisation or registration as a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies ( which he does not have as he was born a citizen)
- Papers showing his legal adoption (obviously N/A)
- His expired citizen of the UNited Kingdom and Colonies passport( of which I do not have as I don't have contact with him and are unable to get in contact with him)

I would really love to apply to become a British Citizen as I would love to track down my family over there and live over there.

Has anyone had the same problem of not having one of the three items below, how did you go in applying? Where you able to apply without your father's passport? Was his birth certificate enough?

Hello, I have good news for you :)

I just got my UKF acceptance letter and I was in the same situation as you.
What I send was:

My passport
My birth certificate
A signed copy of my fathers certificate of registration as a citizen

Therefore I did NOT send my fathers passport and birth certificate.

That was not a problem - last monday I got my acceptance letter and now I just wait for my invitation for the cermony. However I did write a letter with my UKF form telling why I could not get my fathers passport and birth certificate (father born in Ghana).

Best of british luck! :)

Hi Nicostenums.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will make sure I write in the application why I am unable to provide my fathers passport. I can't wait to hopefully receive citizenship.

Thanks again :)

Does your father's full birth certificate prove he was born British? If he was born on or after 1st January 1983, it is not sufficient. You will have to show that he derived British citizenship from one of his parents.
