High Cost Area Allowance & Salary Threshold for Extension

Post by irfanzafar » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:26 pm

Respected All,

I am working as Business Analyst in NHS (SOC Code 2135) and switching employer as new employer (within NHS) has made me job offer.

Salary Threshold for experienced analyst is £33k for 39 hrs, however NHS standard working hrs are 37.5 which means threshold limit is £31731 (33000/39*37.5). Currently I am on £28K, as new job is in London, the new salary will be around £32K including High Cost Area Allowance. My questions are,

1- Does UKIV consider HCAS to meet the required experienced threshold ?

2- What would be the most appropriate procedure in terms of visa application? Should I apply for new visa first and then give notice (2 Months) to my current employer which will be quite long time to join new role (considering normal application processing time) as new employer wants me to start ASAP.

3- After reading on this forum I understand that my dependents are not required to apply for new visa? Our current visas are valid till October-2017.

Thanking you all in advance.

Just to add in the post....
4- GOD forbids, if my new application is refused for any reason and I haven't given my notice to current employer, what will be the status of current leave? It is very confusing for me as well....

Thanks

2- What would be the most appropriate procedure in terms of visa application? Should I apply for new visa first and then give notice (2 Months) to my current employer which will be quite long time to join new role (considering normal application processing time) as new employer wants me to start ASAP. That is really up to you and how much you want to risk versus the return of starting your new role soon rather than later.

Thanking you all in advance.

if refused (unlikely) your current visa carries on unaffected. Your current employer will be unaware of application or the outcome
