EXPIRED PASSPORT OF EMPLOYEE

Post by babaty2k02 » Wed Sep 14, 2016 10:54 pm

Hi Gurus, and other.

Please kindly advise.
One of my employee, had an expired British passport before start of employment. I have asked for a new passport but said since he didn't plan to travel he's not planning to spend money to acquire new passport. I have asked a solicitor, and he said the document could be taken as a proof of identification.

I am confused. Any opinion or options?

Acceptable right to work documents: an employer's guide wrote:Old style British Passports

These are old style passports which no longer permit travel. They will, however, demonstrate a right to work. You should ensure that the document photograph is consistent with the physically appearance of your employee or prospective employee. Request further evidence of status if you are unsure.
The solicitor is correct.
