vv interogation in bkk

Post by tubeman » Wed Sep 21, 2016 12:57 pm

Sorry to post this it is a bit basic

I helped a female friend to visit the UK for a fortnight holiday . Simple right ?? I started and filled out most of the form.
I have a house of my own no mortgage so council tax bill sent.
6 month + salary and bank statements originals
sponsor letter/invitation
colour scans of my passport all pages

she has two jobs one f/t and p/t longstanding with well known large employers so letters in English with details of job role etc and stating release for holiday . (in English on official letterhead)

travel tickets x 2 and photo of us together
loads of Skype printouts
it was handed in on Friday morning and she got a phone call yesterday (Tuesday) from a thai person and subjected to nearly 30 mins of questioning about me ?? even questions about my family and even questions about our future plans. We have never discussed marriage although I might retire in Thailand.
It annoys me as she speaks reasonable English.
We have known each other for 9 months 2 visits
Is this not enough ?
Certainly got the reason to return in my opinion ??
She also asked about how long for a result and told next month so that means over a fortnight.

Is this normal ??

Does the embassy not employ native English speakers as ECOs ?

Does the embassy employ native thai speakers as ECOs

Why can the embassy not make a decision after the interrogation or should I call it an interview

The UK does not have a 'girlfriend/boyfriend' visa. That's the problem.

For a girlfriend, sure. But the UK doesn't have a girlfriend visa.

If you have convinced them that she will return when she says she will return, despite the fact that she is your girfriend (and from a relatively high-risk country), then they will likely approve the visa. Others on here have had the girlfriends/boyfriends approved for visits, some of those with potentially weaker cases than you seem to have. Just to clarify that, how long is 'longstanding' with relation to her part-time employment? What type of work is it? I ask because some jobs are easier to leave behind than others and the HO will consider that as well.

Visitor visa's cover a wide spectrum of possibilities, so it's not so easy to answer that for highly specific cases. But anybody who might be suspected of attempting to circumvent the immigration rules may face extra scrutiny at every step in their journey, yes.

Yes and yes.

The fact that she didn't get an immediate refusal is probably in your favor just from my experiences with seeing these type of cases flow through this forum over the years. They will do checks to verify as best as they can everything she has told them. You may be contacted. Her employers as well. Everything will be cross-checked and then they will make a decision based on the balance of probabilities and the evidence presented to them.
