Tier 2 extension rejected and now Current Tier 2 has expired

Hi there,

I lodged an application before the expiry of my Tier 2 visa. However, Home Office has come back with a rejection letter due to technicality ( Salary calculated based on 39 hour week instead of 40 ). My employer is willing to issue another CoS with updated salary which will satisfy the salary threshold requirement but my current visa is already expired. It is still within 28 days of the expiry of my current visa and I've been told that my application will have to be considered. However, I am concerned because my visa has expired and it is one of the criteria for extending a tier 2( general ) visa.

Can anyone please advise if an extension is possible?
