Indian visa/surrender passport after British citizenship

Post by sban » Sun Sep 25, 2016 11:47 am

Hello all,

I got my UK naturalisation certificate early September and am in the process of receiving my UK passport. I would like to visit India in late October for a week and wanted to know the least complicated way to do it.

I know OCI can take months so should I apply for an Indian visa as soon as I receive my UK passport? Somewhere on the VFS site says they need passport surrender certificate to process any visa application.

Or should I travel on the Indian passport (as it will still be within three months since the naturalisation and not attract penalty)?

I cannot make sense of the confusing passport surrender/visa information on the VFS global site. Any help will be appreciated.
