Tier 2 General changing job conundrum

Hi everyone,

I wanted to explain a conundrum I am currently facing.

I have just got my Tier 2 visa approval today and I have just issued my notice to my previous employer, who is sponsoring me on Tier 2 visa, for a new employer who will be sponsoring me. My last day of employment is 25th of October 2016.

Since neither I or the HR department issuing the CoS was very well aware what needed to be done, they have put 1st of October as "start date of" CoS.

I've just been made aware that I won't be able to continue working for my old company after 1st of October which is well within the notice period.

Can someone help me with regards to what I can do?

I seem to have 2 options
1- Agree with my current HR to leave immediately
2- Amend new CoS start date details - can you actually do that after the visa is issued?
