Dutch Citizenship through Dutch Father

Post by michellevdm » Wed Oct 12, 2016 12:19 am

Hi All,

I'm trying to apply for a Dutch passport. I am eligible through my father as he has always been a Dutch citizen and still is. However, I am having trouble as he does not have any passports older than 10 years old. I'm 22 and need to show proof that he was a citizen at the time I was born. He has never lived in the Netherlands and lived in Switzerland growing up and moved to America right before I was born. I read all the requirements for a Dutch passport, but my father can't find any of it seeing as it needs to be over 20 years old. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or know of where and what he could request to show that he was a Dutch citizen at the time of my birth?

Any information is appreciated!

-Michelle
