Child entering South Africa using British Passport?

Post by scootertooter » Wed Oct 12, 2016 5:54 pm

Hi folks, my wife and I(both have dual nationality - South African as well as British) are planning on taking our soon to be little one(due date mid November) to South Africa meet the grandparents in April next year.

Our plan is to register the birth both here in the UK, as well as in South Africa via South Africa House in London.
We will also be getting the little one a British Passport initially due to it being much quicker and easier for us to do that at first.

My question however is, due to potential timing issues, will our infant be allowed to enter South Africa on a British Passport as we will not be in a position to have all the South African documents in place to produce a South African passport by April next year?

From my understanding, only adults(18yrs+) are required to enter South Africa using a South African passport should they be eligible, but wanted to get others' thoughts on this forum for peace of mind.

Thank you for reading.
