Extension of Start Date for UK Settlement Visa?

Post by Asawa99 » Sun Oct 23, 2016 7:15 am

My wife and I live overseas due to my work, but I am due to retire next month and we plan to settle in the UK. My wife’s Settlement Visa application is with the Home Office now, and we are waiting for a decision. But my employers have just asked me to stay on out here for another six months.

Is it possible to extend the start date of the Settlement Visa, if approved, by six months? Or would we lose our money and have to reapply all over again, with the risk that the rules might have become even tougher by then?

You may normally request the effective date to start no later than 3 months from the date of the decision.

However, another problem is that the vignette is only valid for 30 days.

Not sure if they will refund the fees if you withdrew before the decision.

Ask them as soon as possible.
