Flr Fp 18-24 criteria

Post by Lawrence200 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 10:13 am

Hello,

I was just wondering, for the Flr Fp private life criteria that states that a person needs to have lived in the uk for over half their life, is there any other requirements before leave can be granted.

Also, is 'half your life ' calculated in terms of how many years a person has been in the uk or how many days.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

In order to advise, it would help if you can give more information on your immigration history and under what circumstances you are applying for FLR(FP).

Hey there.

I came to the uk with my mum when I was 9 years old, we ca,e under a visitor visa but overstayed, I recently turned 18 and was looking for a way to regularise my stay when I came across form flrfp. I think the 10 year private life route might apply to me, specifically the part that says "between 18 and 24 and you’ve lived continuously in the UK for more than half your life".

However I'm not sure what if half your life is calculated in years. Eg. You came to the uk when you were 9 years old and now that you're 18 it means you've lived in the uk for half your life. Or it is calculated in how old you were in months or days. So 9 years and 7 months would mean I'm not eligible until I'm 19

Thanks

I'm in the middle of a busy working day and can't always respond as rapidly as you may like. :|

You could submit a FLR(FP) application under the private life route.

Hi Lawrence,

Hope you're well!

The months are taken into consideration for this category. I would suggest waiting until your 19 + to make the application. I applied under this route and my first application was refused because we did not know they would take the months into consideration but I lodge another application after in the same category and within 2 months I got my paperwork sorted. I know it's frustrating to wait but least you know you will very likely be successful and then it's just reapplying after every 2.5 years. I would suggest getting legal advice/help with submitting this application.

Best wishes

Mel
