Divorce from EEA national after acquiring PR

Post by Poppiruby » Tue Oct 25, 2016 8:03 am

Hi everyone,

It's my very first post here. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

I have a question regarding divorce from my EEA hudsband within less than a year of acquiring Permanent Residence Card.

My questions are:

1. Would the divorce affect my current status of PR? Do I need to report the change of my marriage status somewhere?

2. Once the divorce is completed, what would I need to do if I intend to continue staying in the UK. Would I need to re-apply for another Visa?

Thanks!

Welcome.

1) No.

2) No. Just live your life.

If you have ambitions for citizenship you may apply to naturalise one year after you acquired PR status.

Thank you for the prompt response!
It seems quite clear and straight forward.
If you could share any legal source that below are stated, would be much appreciated :)

PR and a PR card is not a 'visa'.
You don't seem to be very clear on what PR means.
Read EU Directive 2004/38/EC as transposed into UK's EEA Regulations 2006.
