Hello,
I'm a French national who's been living in the UK for the last 12 years. I'm looking at applying for British Citizenship but must first get my Permanent Residence card.
I've worked in the UK from the time I moved here up (November 2004) until September 2014. My partner had some health problems then so I decided to quit my job to become his full-time carer. Unfortunately, I didn't get registered anywhere or claimed any benefits. We just went through it using savings, his sick pay and some money from family. He's now better and back to work and I'm currently job hunting.
I've started filling in the PR application and got stuck at the employment section. Obviously I've been unemployed and self-sufficient for the last 2 years but I've not held any Comprehensive Sickness Cover - mainly because I was completely unaware that I needed to.
1. If I get a job now, do I still need to prove that I had CSC during those 2 years of unemployment?
2. Can I retroactively get CSC for those last 2 and a bit years?
3. Do those previous 10 years working and living in the UK count for nothing now? And do I need to wait another 5 years to apply for PR?
Thanks in advance for your help
