How long and changing jobs

Post by marlonrn » Sat Nov 05, 2016 7:54 am

Hi all, Hope you all are doing well. I just have a few questions if anyone could share some light on please.

I applied for Flr fp Extension June 2016
Application received ....06/07/16
Payment was taken out of account... 13/07/16.
Biometric done ---- 17/08/2016
Further payment ---- 04/10/2016 additional payment of £100 was needed to cover a longer extension to 36 months and not the previous 30 months
Decision:----- still waiting for a decision (05/11/2016)

What is the average timescale for similar applications?
Is there still chance of refusal after doing biometry?
Am I able to change jobs while my application is with HO because I wont have a passport to show new employer?

FLR(FP) applications are always more complex and generally involve a lengthy wait for a decision.

Biometrics are taken before the application is assessed by the Case Worker so there is no indication of the outcome simply because biometrics have been provided.

Doubtful that a new employer will offer employment without having sight of a valid passport/visa. They could however use the UKVI employer checking service to confirm you continue to have the right to work.

The request for an additional payment suggests that the Home Office may be considering issuing you with Discretionary Leave which is 6 years (3 + 3 years).

Hi casa,

Many thanks for your reply. I shall wait and see what the outcome is. Will also still try to use UKVI as I'm out of a job now and need the finance. Fingers cross it's a 6 years discretion, I thought it was 2.5 years and extra payment made it 3 years but what do I know, happy for whatever extension. Also I think before I made the application I posted a question about what application to file as I was doing this without a solicitor and you were very helpful so thank you again.

If it's Discretionary Leave, the extension will be for 3 years after which you would need to apply for a further 3 year DL extension

Flr fp Extension from 10yrs to 5yrs

Application sent..... 13/06/2016.

application received ....14/06/16

Payment was taken out of account... 23/06/16.

Acknowledgment received ---- 09/07/2016 but dated 7/07/2016

Biometric letter received ---- 05/08/2016 but dated 3/08/2016

Biometric enrolled ---- 6/08/2016

Decision:-----still waiting up till date(05/11/2016)

Above is my timeline. I got a job in August and I was to start in September but my appointment got terminated because my visa wasn't ready. I haven't had any further document requested off me. I have heard nothing after my biometrics. I applied with my 1year old son and I am still waiting. I have contacted my MP but nothing has come out of it. This waiting is killing and hence making me lose jobs. I have called the call center and they keep telling me the same thing--"your application is still been processed"
I will advise that you don't change jobs until your visa is in your hands.

Hi casa,

I did have 3 years discretionary leave which ended in June as a spouse of Uk partner but marriage broke down and I had to apply on the basis of my children that's reasons for my application flr fp..

Which confirms my belief that they are considering issuing you with a DL visa again.

Ok that's is my belief as well as they've asked for additional payment. Do you think this would be for another 3 years?

I really can't say for sure as your circumstances have changed from when you were granted your first period of DL.
