Spousal visa, supporting documents.

Hello everyone,

I am about to apply for the spousal visa with my American husband. As a sponsor I have collated all the required documents stating my financial situation, relationship status and tenancy agreement. All good, except for the fact that I don't know whether these documents should be submitted alongside the application from the states, on his part with his documents or will they be requested separately by the authorities in the U.K. Also what documents will there be required from my partner in the United States ? The guidance notes do not state exactly where and how these documents are to be submitted and by which party, whether me the sponsor or the applicant. I would be very happy if you could clarify all of the above for me.
