SAR data blacked-out

Post by Wyboq » Sun Nov 13, 2016 3:29 pm

What are peoples experiences with respect to the amount of information that is typically blacked out in fast track SAR responses? Naturally names of UKVI staff are removed, but what details of the caseworker notes or other additional information regarding a PR application?

I think the only reply that can be given here is that it's down to the Home Office what they decide to withhold. Perhaps you should explain what you are looking for or what the issue is you are facing.

The only details blacked out in my SAR were caseworker names/IDs, all other information they held on me was provided. The letter that comes with the SAR also states that everything in your SAR which relates to other individuals' identities will be blacked out, nothing else.

Thank you LilyLalilu, that exactly answers my question.

For context: I was surprised that they ran a PNC check, which they were happy to reveal. I wasn't aware that this is necessary for a DCPR, but fair enough, you might not want a criminal to establish even deeper roots in the country. They also did something else, but they withheld what exactly. There are a few paragraphs missing in the notes right before they go through some type of check list about person details, CID checks completed etc.

In the end, it's pointless to speculate about this. I was just surprised, because I have never even gotten as much as a parking ticket in my entire life. Not sure what triggered it and was curious whether this is somewhat standard or not.

On the plus side, I am one more person that can confirm that a fast track SAR request is indeed fast and shows the date for which they confirm that permanent residence was acquired. I did not ask for the date specifically by the way. Just ticked IT records and gave the case ID of my DCPR application.

CID = casework information database. Nothing to do with the police in this context.

As far as I am aware, the first person on this forum to do a fast track SAR got the reply with his PR date in 10 working days.
