Self-employment tax

Post by kidraja » Mon Nov 14, 2016 5:39 pm

Hi everyone

Since I'm self-employed, do I have to pay tax due in Jan 2017 before I apply for wife's "entry clearance" or can pay after when HMRC send me bill for tax due ?

Thanks

As self-employed I thought you get your tax bill as soon as you submit your tax return online . Is that not the process anymore?
I wasn't aware that hmrc send a bill for tax due.

You have to include a printout of your tax return to HMRC as well as statement of account (SA300 or SA302) - there doesn't seem to be any requirement to show proof that it has been paid according the the notes as far as I can see.
