Visitors Visa Application - Income & Expenditure

I am hoping one of you kind souls can help me.

My brother in law and sister in law, plus their 17 month old daughter, Armenian nationals living permanently in Thailand, have just been refused a visitors visa. We believe we know why and are now ready to reapply.

I have A level English and even I cannot understand the Income and Expenditure section of the visitors visa application form! Well, I understand the text of course, but the meaning of each entry is unclear. The guidance notes did not help, as they basically reiterated what the form already says.

The situation is that my brother in law is the sole earner for their family and he will be paying for the entire trip for all of them. Their accommodation, food and travel will be free in the UK, as we are providing all of it.

They have already paid £700 each for their return flight tickets. They have a further £2000 in cash for the holiday, which they recently deposited into their bank account as joint funds. They will be staying for 3 weeks.

How can I translate the above into the relevant boxes on each application form? It's specifically the boxes which require figures in GBP that I'm trying to fill in.

I'd be extremely grateful for some help.
