Tier 2 General to ILR time remaning

Post by navi85sin » Wed Nov 16, 2016 11:44 am

Hi.

If anyone can help me with this, will be wonderful

I am on tier 2 general visa sine april 2013.
Some people say you have to apply after five years and some says you can apply after 4.5 years.

As my visa is ending in nov 2017, i will be getting only 6 month extension as my 5 years will be finished on tier 2 general.

Should i apply for ILR or just stay on extension?

You can apply for ILR no earlier than 28 days before the end of your 5 year qualifying period.

Before your first visa expires, make sure you renew/extend it for 3 years (or the maximum period possible to complete a total of 6 years on Tier 2).

It wouldn't make sense to request an extension for just 6 months - it wouldn't be cheaper or anything.

6 years is the maximum you can stay on that visa.

After you complete 5 years in total, you should apply for ILR if you want to stay in the country beyond the sixth year.

Once ILR is approved, then that's done.

Thanks for the update.

As you know the government have set a limit of 35K salery till april 2018. Which they are going to change the limit in April.

No one know what will be the new limit. But i was wondering, if i have to apply in april for ILR, what will happen.

Like on 8 April 2018 my five years will get completed. So if i apply 28 days before. will the 35k salary will be applied to me.

If you are talking about the ILR min salary requirement, then that has already been announced and is going up by 500 to £35,500.
