India Travel query - Urgent help reqd!

Post by coventried79 » Fri Nov 18, 2016 1:14 pm

Hi all, I had applied for my British naturalization in June 2016. I got a letter (around Mid-october) from UKBA saying they need my original Indian passport to progress with the citizenship application.
I sent it to them via post & received the approval letter the following week.
All good except they didn't return my Indian passport !!

I submitted an online query last week asking them to return my passport as I need it for my India travel due on 07th December.

I received a letter from them today saying as per their records my Indian passport is recorded lost/stolen since April 2015 hence they have had to send it to the local Indian embassy and any further correspondence on this should be done with them!!!!

I am at my wits end  - how could it be reported lost when I had it with me all the time, plus I had not reported it such at all.

please could anyone suggest what's the best approach here as I have less than 3 weeks left for my travel..?

a) Should I go to HCI, London or CGI,Birmingham (as I live in West Midlands)..?
b) Will they entertain such a query..do I need to speak to anyone in particular?
c) In the worst case, will they be able to issue an emergency travel certificate to me?

Please !! looking for some suggestions asap.

Many thanks.

Maybe you reported passport as lost then found it again.
Or someone has mixed up passport numbers somewhere.

Anyway if its gone to embassy then its all about finding out which one and dealing with your embassy now.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
