Hi all,

Can i apply for PR card?

I am an unmarrried partner of an eu citizen. I have been in a relationship for 3 years and living together for 2 years with my partner.

I got RC this year, january. She has got the PR last month cuz she is a qualified person living more than 5 years in the UK. She is due to apply for citzenship next year.

I have been living in the country for 12 years. I Came at the age of 15, went to school, and worked (illegally) before receiving my PR

I have got all documentation needed to apply for PR.

Would i qualify?

Are you an EEA national?

Time spent as an unmarried partner but without a RC sponsored by that partner is not counted towards acquiring PR.

Be aware, once your EEA sponsor naturalises they can no longer sponsor a family member.
And yes, that's the case even before Brexit.

Also you should be aware that once your partner is granted British citizenship, if you haven't acquired PR they will no longer be able to sponsor you as an EEA Extended Family Member.

Did you have another EEA sponsor who was a qualified person even before your unmarried partner?
You haven't mentioned them at all.

So on what basis were you in UK as a minor?

You must have been in UK with someone and with some immigration status or other.

Doesn't sound like you have acquired PR so far.
And if just starting on your EU migration journey (January) there's no time now to acquire PR in normal way (due to looming Brexit).

The PR clock for unmarried partners of EEA citizens only starts when they get the Residence Card. So, you would acquire PR in five years time.

Time spent in the UK without the RC does not count for the purpose of acquiring PR.

Time spent in the UK illegally, whether as a minor or as an adult does not count.

Also, be aware that, as you were illegally in the UK before acquiring the RC card, you will not be eligible to apply for British citizenship till January 2026 (10 years since becoming legal).
